ISO 14001 is an International Standard for environmental impacts on projects and is currently a main system requirement for national state and local government projects. This system to be certified has a two stage process. The first stage is to have the system implemented, documented and operating within your company. The second stage if seeking certification involves having it audited by "third party auditors" to ensure it meets the necessary requirements.
