ISO 9001 QA is an International Standard for quality assurance and is currently one of the main systems required for tendering national, state and local government projects. This system has a two stage process. The first stage is to have the system implemented, documented and operating within your company. The second stage if required involves having it audited by "third party auditors" to ensure it meets the necessary requirements.

Why become certified with ISO 9001/2008 QA?

A certified system ensures your company is reaching the highest of quality assurance standards. This is often a requirement of other QA certified construction companies, city councils and government departments. The Australian Government has introduced a Building and Construction Accreditation Scheme ensuring that all of its principal contactors are certified in government funded projects. As a result this process will in time ensure that all companies including their contractors conform to ISO 9001 QA certification.

What should I consider with ISO 9001/2008 QA?

To ensure your company is operating to the highest standard of quality assurance possible our recommendation is to embrace IS0 9001 QA, ensuring that you are ahead of your competitors. A company that has a certified or implemented ISO 9001 quality assurance system automatically is the preferred company in a tender process.

Should I have my ISO 9001/2008 QA System certified?

Often it is not possible to have a system certified in time for certain tenders or projects, and is not always a requirement. An alternative is to submit your tender with an implemented ISO 9001 QA system. Tenders with implemented systems within their company are often accepted under the same criteria.
